June 16th – 24th, 2017: Black Culture Week

“For while the tale of how we suffer, and how we are delighted, and how we may triumph is never new, it always must be heard." - James Baldwin

The purpose of Black Culture Week is to...

Celebrate: Give thanks and praise for Black culture and Black success

Commemorate: Perform a ritual in honor of Black culture and the Black experience.

Collaborate: Take deliberate action to work and/or do business with other members of the Black community and those who support them.

Black Culture Week is a full-blooded celebration of the Black community in all of its varied and glorious forms. The week is highlighted by gatherings and events that celebrate Black people, show reverence for Black accomplishments, and set models for collective Black action. For the entirety of the week, we encourage all people, both Black and otherwise, to take special care to visit and do business with Black establishments.
